Ministry Vision and Passions
Ministry Vision & Passions
Authentic. This is a word that often comes up when we talk Vision. Heritage desires to be an authentic New Testament body of faith. However, the question is, “what exactly does authentic mean?” Two more words will help define what being authentic will mean for Heritage Bible Church: Humble & Missional
Humble. One of the reasons we are a non-denominational Bible church is that we are committed to being loyal to the sacred text of Scripture. We earnestly desire to know what God has to say about what His church is to look like. Moreover, we desire then to mirror the image that His word gives. In short, to be an authentic church we must be humbly submissive to whatever God’s word demands for His church.
Missional. What does it mean to be ‘on mission’? Well, first of all we must know what that mission is. The Bible delineates that the primary mission of mankind is to glorify God (I Cor. 10:31/I Pet. 4:11). The desire to accurately reflect Him and make His name famous must be at the heart of everything we do at Heritage. Moreover, in order to do this well, we must keep God’s main thing our main thing. It is unquestionably clear that the central theme of Scripture is God’s redemptive plan through His Son Jesus Christ. In order to remain on mission as an authentic body of faith, we must seek to glorify God and keep His gospel central in everything we do.
Here are 5 commitments that we believe will help us stay true to this vision:
5 things we’re passionate about:
- The Preeminence of God—The Tri-Une God must have first place and first say in our church. We are intent on pleasing Him alone and loving Him with all our heart!
- The Power of His Word—We are committed to the practical and yet thorough exposition of the scriptures. His Word is so powerful and we desire for it to be unleashed in our lives.
- The Presence of Love—Jesus Christ passionately preached and lived the subject of love. As Paul elucidates in I Corinthians 13, we could do everything right and yet miserably fail if it is not done with the presence of love. Our church must exude the presence of love!
- The Priority of Unity—The Scriptures consistently teach the importance of unity. As a church we cannot go forward for Christ if we are not going forward together. We must fight for unity! Sometimes this may require the laying aside of a personal preference for the sake of the unity of the body of Christ.
- The Practice of Faith—We are not content to be just ‘hearers of the Word’. We are committed to being doers of the Word. We desire to work together to serve our great Savior individually as well as corporately.
