Meet our Pastor:

Hi, my name is Dustin Rogers and I am so excited that you have taken some time for us! Here’s just a little bit about me (in case you were wondering!).

My Family: I think that I have the greatest family in the world! My wife and son are simply amazing and I love them like crazy! My son Dawson is by far the cutest kid in the world—and I’m not biased at all. He also has more hair than me and for that I am jealous...its ok I’m over it. My wife Catherine is a beautiful and immensely talented woman who completes me in so many ways. I just love being a proud husband and father!

I am so very thankful for my godly heritage. God has blessed my life immensely in this way. My Dad, who is now a Pastor in VA, was always a consistent godly father. My mother was and is an amazing mom and servant. Together they taught me to love God and follow His direction. I am a child who is able to ‘rise and call my parents blessed’. I am also forever grateful for my brothers and sister. My two younger brothers are unequivocally my best friends and favorite companions. I have learned from both and continue to enjoy the precious times we share together. My little sister is and always will be my little sweetheart. I love my family!

I want to also thank and praise God for the incredible family God provided for my wife. The relationship that I have with my ‘in-laws’ is nothing like the typical jokes. I absolutely love my new family and feel right at home with them. Catherine’s family is an incredible example of faithfulness to the Lord!

Call to Ministry/Experience: When I was about 14 years old, God began working on my heart in relation to the ministry. I struggled, however, with complete surrender of my will to God. I had some goals and dreams that I wanted to accomplish and fulfill before I went into the ministry. I praise God that in His grace He grabbed hold of my life! I finally surrendered completely and went to Bible College to train for the ministry. I graduated in 2002 with a BA in Bible with a special empasis in Youth Ministries. I immediately went to work as a youth pastor at the Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Virginia. I had the wonderful opportunity of being the youth pastor there for 7 years. Amidst my tenure at GMBC I was licensed to preach and ordained into the gospel ministry. During my time in the ministry there the Lord began working in my heart towards the arena of the Pastorate—specifically in church planting. He also began to prepare me for this transition by giving me the wonderful opportunity of preaching to the entire congregation on Sunday nights for the last few years. God also opened up great opportunities for me to expand my ministry by preaching at various camps, schools, and retreats. In the fall of 2008 we were approached by this group of people in here in Lincoln where we eventually felt God burdening us to come. I am totally pumped about the opportunity that the Lord has opened up here in Lincoln and am truly honored to serve the people here!

What fires me up about ministry: First and foremost I am so fired up about the gospel of Jesus Christ. To me, it is just reasonable that I serve the Lord when I consider His amazing love for me. I am motivated by the love of Christ. The more I learn from the scriptures, the more I am compelled to love God. This love for God has transformed my view of people. God has placed a special love in my heart for people. My goal for life and ministry is to grow to love God and people more and more. When I consider His love for me I realize how far short I fall in this the foremost command of scripture.

I am fired up about authentic ministry. I have grown to detest a lot of what passes today as ‘ministry’. A lot of ministries are way too fired up about all the wrong things and issues. I am very passionate about laboring tirelessly to help people know and love God and to allow Him to be the Lord of every area in their lives. This will manifest itself in a lot of ways! We MUST allow His Word to lead and not tradition. God willing, we will seek to build an honest and authentic ministry that seeks to please God and truly impact people.

I am fired up about the passionate, practical, and thorough exposition of the Scriptures! I am so excited to prepare and deliver God’s word every week. I recognize, however, and take very seriously the responsibility that this brings. I want my people to hold me accountable to keep this as my main priority throughout each week.

Just for Fun: I’m a total sports nut! My two favorites are basketball and golf. I really enjoy good competition. My Father’s family resides in Kentucky while my Mom’s family lives in Chicago. That should explain why I am a die-hard Cubs, Bulls, Bears, and Kentucky Wildcats fan! The mid-90’s were good to me with my Jordan led Chicago Bulls and my Wildcats winning 5 championship titles from ‘96-‘98! I must say, however, that my Cubbies have taken me into mild depression a few times over the years—wait I’m getting this feeling that this is our year!

I really enjoy reading theology, commentaries, and themed books about the faith. My favorite commentator is Martin Lloyd Jones. I love the depth that he brings out in his work. There are several Preachers/Authors that I thoroughly enjoy. James MacDonald, John MacArthur, John Piper, and David Whitcomb head the list of men that have impacted me through their preaching and writings. I appreciate their devotion to the accurate presentation of scripture and absolutely love the passion with which they do it!
